Richard Harris

Founder & Chief Executive, Port Shelter

Richard Harris is CEO of Port Shelter Investment Management, Hong Kong, which consults to public and private Institutions, Boards and Family Offices. Richard also has 14 years' experience as a financial expert witness based in Asia, having testified, or reported on cases in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, the UK, and the United States in civil and criminal cases, arbitrations, and tribunals.


Dr. Harris pioneered investment management in Asia at senior levels for companies such as JP Morgan (then Jardine Fleming), Citi, BNY Mellon. He has 40 years' experience in a full range of investment and capital markets activities. He has managed multi-asset long, derivative, private equity, hedge, and mutual funds for sovereign, endowment, institutional, pension, private and retail clients. Richard Harris is a prolific writer and broadcaster as a regular Guest Host on CNBC Asia and Europe, and a contributor to Bloomberg and Channel News Asia.


He previously presented Radio Television Hong Kong's “Money Talk,” and he has a regular column in the South China Morning Post. His book “China's Oasis” was published in 2018. Dr. Harris holds a First Class Honour's degree from King's College London, a Master's in Engineering from Imperial College, a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, and a PhD in Finance. He is a Fellow of The Academy of Experts (London). Richard holds further certificates from Peking and Stanford Universities; is an aerobatic private pilot; and a rugby player of some 60 years' standing.
